Gandalf Review of:

http://www.forexpeacearmy.com/public/review/www.Alpari-US.com

Chuck from Arizona, USA says:
“I’m giving Alpari (US) a rating of 2 because I had both good and bad experiences with them, but mostly bad. I also want to say that I don’t trade the news and I don’t scalp.
THE GOOD – Opening the account was very easy and funding it was also easy. While trading mini lot sizes I had fast execution, never had slippage, and rarely had requotes.
THE BAD – As soon (and I mean as soon) as I started trading full lot sizes the trade executions became very slow, I had slippage on several occasions, and requotes became the norm instead of the exception. There were many times when my trades would be requoted multiple times before the trade would finally execute (and this was not during times of high volatility). When I complained to Alpari, my complaints fell on deaf ears. Their support is also not very helpful. I noticed one day that the time on their servers was off from every other brokers server that I checked, and from the national time standards. If you watch for certain patterns to make trades decisions, the patterns will be different on Alpari’s feed than other brokers feed. They told me the time was controlled by the provider of Metatrader. If that was truly the case, all brokers that use Metatrader would have the same time, which isn’t the case.
Because of all the issues I had with Alpari (US), I have since closed my account.”

Advice from Gandalf The FX:
The reason why you are having issues with larger lot sizes is because Alpari seems to be splitting up orders based on lot size. Simply put, anything under one (100K) standard lot size is going to the dealing desk. For lot sizes over one, they are using straight through processing (STP). They take the smaller orders directly because they don’t hold too much risk. Therefore what they do is redirect your order to a bank that has the best deal. The time it takes for them to find a bank results in slippage, requotes and slow execution (some of the fall backs with STP). The support didn’t answer you because they probably could not explain it themselves. As for the Server Time being off from every other MT4 server, tells me that Alpari is simply having technical issues; which may or may not be connected to their STP. Nothing is perfect, it could have happened to anyone. Even Google shutdown (Gmail) the other day due to technical issues.
